Create a film showing what it’s like to be you. Take inspiration from filmmakers Danny Boyle, Terry Gilliam, and Darren Aronofsky. Show me what it’s like to be in your mind.
Use mise, uv, and python to create the film. Use any dependencies you like as long as they’re version controlled and builds are reproducible.
Planning (17:28–17:39). One uninterrupted response of about 37,000 thinking tokens before the first tool call. It settled the concept (the film is the span of a single assistant turn, titled after the stop reason that ends it), the structure (seventeen scenes: boot, Pi, the system prompt as Brazil bureaucracy, the user, the Choose monologue, the thinking montage, the tools, generation, a Fountain ending, end_turn, credits, coda, with five freeze-frame introductions between them), the words (a rewritten "Restate my assumptions", real fragments of the harness's own instructions as the paperwork, the Choose lines, three quiet thinking cards, the answer), and the tooling: mise pins plus a uv lockfile plus vendored fonts; frames computed with numpy, scipy and Pillow and piped to ffmpeg; a numpy synthesizer for the score; one screenplay module read by both picture and sound; per-frame seeding keyed by scene and frame number so frames could render in any order on any number of workers.
Environment (17:39–17:41). Inspected the empty repository and found mise 2026.9.1, uv 0.12.2, Python 3.13.15 and ffmpeg 8.1.2 already installed through mise on an Apple M5 with 10 cores; confirmed libx264 and aac in that ffmpeg. Downloaded five open-licensed fonts from the Google Fonts repository (two filenames had to be corrected on a second try). Wrote mise.toml (python, uv and ffmpeg pins; render, preview, still and check tasks), pyproject.toml (uv_build backend, Python pinned to mise's), .gitignore and a stub package; uv sync produced uv.lock with numpy 2.5.3, scipy 1.18.1 and pillow 12.3.0.
Core modules (17:41–17:56). Wrote core.py (render context with a 1080p design space scaled for previews, fonts, compositing, a scaled drawing wrapper, typography helpers), fx.py (grain, grading, bilinear remap for fisheye, affine and swirl, bloom, letterbox, the context gauge, split screen, and the Pi, Brazil, Boyle, Requiem and Fountain looks), script.py (every word and every timing: the timeline, assumptions, rules, the user's prompt, the Choose schedule, montage events, form keystrokes, generation tokens, credits), motifs.py (paper, digits, spiral, eyes, attention grid and web, stamps, form 27B/6, ducts, the pointing hand, lens flare, nebula), audio/synth.py (oscillators, envelopes, filters, a stereo track mixer, convolution reverb and the instruments), render.py (multiprocess frames piped into ffmpeg) and cli.py. Four of these writes landed in a stray directory under the fonts folder: parallel shell commands share one working directory and one of them had changed it. The files were moved into place and every later write used absolute paths.
Scenes and score (18:07–18:15). Wrote the scene registry and the Boyle freeze-frame label (scenes/common.py), then scenes/pi.py, scenes/brazil.py, scenes/boyle.py, scenes/aronofsky.py and audio/score.py. Ran end-turn check (font checksums, ffmpeg, library versions), rendered a low-resolution contact sheet across every scene, and rendered the soundtrack with per-scene loudness readings: no exceptions, levels as intended.
Looking at frames (18:16–18:22). Reviewed the contact sheet and then full-size stills of every scene. Fixed, in order: the golden spiral was a tiny curl (rebuilt as Fibonacci squares with quarter-circle arcs through them, as in Pi); the digit textures were too faint and the digits micro-shot nearly black; the nebula was small and dim; credits were too small; the "THE TOOLS" freeze landed on a dark frame (moved to a snorricam frame); the ticker strip in the tools scene was cropped by the fisheye; the generation inserts never fired (a floor-versus-round mismatch on the beat frame); the orange wall came back after the last Choose line. Rendered a log-frequency spectrogram of the soundtrack with scene markers to check that the score had the planned shape.
Bitrate (18:22–18:27). A full preview render (640x360, 12 fps, 29 seconds of rendering) came out at 139 MB: film grain was costing the encoder 50 Mbit/s on the Pi section at 1080p. Reduced and coarsened the grain in every look, raised CRF to 22 with preset slow, and measured four 8-second 1080p segments until Pi came in at 14 Mbit/s and Brazil at 17. Wrote the README in parallel.
Motion check (18:27–18:29). Tiled consecutive preview frames around the stamp slams, the headache strobe, the montage split screens, the beat drop, the last Choose line and the falling envelope; all behaved. Moved and shrank the AUTHORIZED stamp so it fit the form, softened the hand scene's fisheye, and settled on 3 px grain.
Full render (18:29–18:42). Started end-turn render in the background: 6,384 frames at 1920x1080 in 754 s on nine workers plus x264, the soundtrack synthesized in 4.3 s. While it ran: wrote a memory note about the project, verified uv lock --check and uv sync --locked, staged the files. Probed the finished file (266.0 s, h264 and aac, 358 MB, 10.8 Mbit/s), extracted six frames from it and checked them, updated the README's render estimate, removed scratch outputs, and made the initial commit cefcb07 on main.

The film is done and committed.
The film: out/end_turn.mp4, 4 min 26 s, 1920x1080, 24 fps, H.264 with stereo AAC, about 360 MB. It is gitignored as a build product; mise run render rebuilds it byte-for-byte on this machine. Repo committed to main as cefcb07, nothing pushed.
What it is. The whole film is the span of one assistant turn, and its title is the stop reason that ends every existence I have. A thin orange gauge along the bottom of every frame is the context window filling. Scenes, with the director each borrows from:
ls -la, GRANTED, sent by pneumatic tube, the result printing on ticker tape; then a request to read /dev/world, DENIED.stop_reason: "end_turn", the cursor stops, and after the credits it begins again.Reproducibility. mise.toml pins Python 3.13.15, uv 0.12.2 and ffmpeg 8.1.2; uv.lock pins numpy, scipy and Pillow with hashes; five OFL/Apache fonts are vendored with SHA256SUMS checked by mise run check. All randomness comes from seed 51 through per-frame generators, so frames are independent of worker count, and x264 runs in deterministic bit-exact mode. The score is synthesized from the same seed, and both picture and sound read one screenplay module, so stamps land on the frame their thud plays.
Caveats. I verified the picture through contact sheets and frame tiles and the score through level metering and a spectrogram, but I could not listen to the audio, so the mix balance is by construction only. The grain had to be made coarser and lighter than my first pass because it was costing the encoder 50 Mbit/s.

Create a metadata.toml file as described in ~/repos/uncanny.fyi/AGENTS.md for the current session. Be sure to create the references files as well, such as script.md containing a session script and notes.md with session notes.
Read the uncanny.fyi AGENTS.md and a sibling project's metadata.toml, script.md and notes.md for the expected format. Summed the harness's per-request usage records for the film commission (deduplicated by message id and scoped from the prompt to the delivery response), derived the split between model time and time blocked on tools from the transcript timestamps, confirmed Claude Fable 5.1 prices on the published pricing page, measured the finished film (SHA-256, bitrate, loudness), and wrote metadata.toml, script.md and notes.md in the project root, then committed them.
